The women lost 6-1 at Tower Hill in Witney today, but the scoreline doesn't do the team justice. The home side, a free-scoring third in the 'West' division last season, will clearly be one of the stronger teams in this season's 'north' division. Sammy scored an excellent goal but the home side got decidedly tetchy as the Ducks, not able to field a full strength side, had their moments of pressure. There were some great performances by so many of the team which suggest some good results will come as the season progresses.

We had two players Alice P and Jenny G start their first game for the league team. Both worked hard as part of the midfield 4. Overall pleasing performances by all the team. On to the next game at Newport Pagnell next Sunday.

After the long trip to Witney last Sunday to play Tower Hill, the women's team were at Newport Pagnell dev. Against a team with the resources of Newport we won 8-3 . NP won this division 2 seasons ago then switched leagues. We started with Bennie as GK , back 4 Clare K, Sam T, Sarah G, Khadijah A - mid field , Alice P, Sammy J, Val P Jessica R - front 2 Iona L and Georgina B Sub Jenny G We started slowly being pressed by NP , they scored at 5 but within 24 we were 3-1 ahead thru Iona 2 and Val. Sammy scored the 4th at 43. Half time- NP at 49 , then Iona missed a pen at 53 BUT scored from open play at 54. Now for a strange sin bin for Sarah G during a pen, she was given 10 mins for They missed the pen. Georgina scored at 73 ( score now is 6-2) they replied 10 later and started to press urged on by their supporters. The result of this was we scored at 85 Iona and 90 Sammy. We were very happy with that. Next game is next Sunday 15th Sept 2pm against MK City, venue St Johns sports and social club Stone.

Excellent performance from Aylesbury United Women today as they beat a strong Milton Keynes City side 3-1 at St John's.
Aylesbury took an early lead through Hayley Mackland, but MK broke though with an equaliser just before half time. In an entertaining and competitive second half, the Ducks came out on top with goals from Jolene Richardson and Sammy Jackson (penalty). An outstanding showing all round which leaves Aylesbury in second place in the fledgling league table.
Starting XI: Beanie; Clare Knowler, Samantha Thorpe, Sarah Gerrard, Khadijah Awan; Alice Preston, Sammy Jackson, Valerie Pitchers, Hayley Mackland; Georgina Blackwell, Iona Lawson. Subs: Megan Carroll, Jolene Richardson.
Next Sunday will be a local derby at home to Wing Raiders, with a 2pm kick off at St John's. Come along and support the team!

Thanks Leon for the report. I like the move for Sammy to midfield with 2 forwards like Iona and Georgina in front of her. Good to see Jolene get on the scoring charts. How was the crowd, any new Aylesbury supporters?

Leon....totally agree! Today's performance by AYLESBURY UNITED WOMEN was one of the best for several seasons. The opposition, Milton Keynes City, have been one of the stronger sides in the league for several seasons, and continued to look good today but were restricted by a determined defensive display by The Ducks to long range efforts that either missed the target or were dealt with competently by Beanie in goal. The midfield battled hard to maintain superiority and up front, The Ducks always looked dangerous and could easily have had more goals to their name. Well done to Hayley, Jolene and Sammy for taking taking their chances so well.
It's not just the men's first team with an impressive start to the season and hopefully there will be a few more AUFC supporters who will come along to St John's next Sunday for the Wing game to support the women's AYLESBURY UNITED team.
