well, that wasn't very good and got steadily worse as it went on. Ben certainly has the hex on us - don't think we have put in a single decent performance in the 3 games we have played against his Thame team.
Their keeper didn't make a save, apart from comfortably taking an attempted lob. Kamil, the big center forward, tried manfully but was totally isolated as Jefferson cruised through the game and even had time to pop up front to score with a free header, after hesitant defending by Hoppy and the defence. The first , inevitably, had come from Rocco who scored from our corner! Dreadful defending. Individually the defenders look decent, but they struggled with the direct football and with the pest that is Tom McElroy.
The midfield were all busy, but the passing wasn't great and Hashi was overpowered and surrounded whenever he got the ball. 2 down at half time and the 2nd half got worse, especially after Kamil went off injured. There was no urgency and we just whimpered as Thame coasted through.
Really disappointing , especially compared to last week's performance, and a bit worrying - if you are fragile defensively and not creating any chances you've got a few things to sort out! (especially as there are no forward options) Having said that Thame looked very good, strong and quick, and it is our first competitive game as a new team, so we have to give them some time to gell together. Kamil, Will, the Chesham central midfielder and Liam the new RB all had good games. MOTM - Liam imho

That was really really bad, generally just struggled to string 2 passes together all game. Thought Riddick absolutely bossed it today, Thame should have won by more than 3. Hope it's just a bad day at the office but thought a few did not look up to the standard for me.

I didn't think the three who started up front were too bad. But there was nothing in the centre of the park and it was a disordered defensive display.
Thame were really solid at the back, didn't give much away.

I don’t think we need to be too dramatic, yes disappointing result but I’m not sure we was as bad as some are making out.
I thought we looked dangerous when we got out wide and Hashii will be a great player for us this season.
In my opinion we was denied a stonewall penalty on kamil and we had good passages of the game, we only started to look open in the 2nd half when we was pushing for a goal.
You have to remember this is a new team, Thame stuck together from last year, and most of our boys from last year have either dropped a level or even 2 in some cases (bar Hayden and Tom)
You can see we have improved, and you have to remember last year from the beginning we won 3 games in 14! So give it time & as fans we need to start being more positive, these boys give up there Tuesdays Thursdays & Saturday for our great club, I don’t think it would be doing any of there confidence any good if they was to be coming on here and seeing there own fans on there backs after ONE game!
There’s lots to be excited about so let’s get behind the management and team!

We always use the excuse of new team but its a load of rubbish, 3 of that defensive line have played over 600 games for the club, fact is call it what it is a shambles, not one shot at a reprieved teams goal all game. This team on paper is weaker than the last managers and well done to mr Williams for exploiting just how bad it was, typical our manager hides away not giving interviews and pretending it didn't happen, massive backwards step for the club and with more teams to be relegated this season let's hope we can rely on reprieves aswel Can I ask you a genuine question? If the team was stronger last year, why have most of them dropped a level? If they were good enough for step 4 clubs would have been all over them, and that is no disrespect to them it’s just an observation. That same better team, lost to a step 5 side in the fa cup? Aswell as only winning 3 of our first 14 league games, so come on it’s unfair to comment on the new team when we’ve played 1 competitive game

There were very few positives yesterday. Batchelor-Morgan performed well at right back, keeping Rocco quiet. Hoppy made some good saves, and Yashii was effective when the ball was played to his feet.
It's only one game, and it was quite similar to our recent performances against Thame, so it's best not to overreact. It felt like we approached it as a pre-season match, while Thame was highly motivated for the cup.
Our second-half performance was concerning. We struggled to string passes together and barely posed a threat. There was no one on our bench providing instructions or encouragement. The atmosphere was completely flat. Could this be a result of DT's pre-season strategy of 'giving everyone a game'? Has our strongest eleven actually played the majority of a match together?
Also, how good was Mark Riddick in their midfield? It's a shame we couldn't bring him back to the club.

Wasn’t there yesterday but have received reliable reports back that it wasn’t clever. The players and the management will know that, they don’t need us to point it out to them.
It’s important to remember that last year’s squad only stayed up on the final day so let’s not make out it was some sort of super squad we should be gutted to have seen disbanded. Plenty of good blokes in the squad but the league table never lies.
The cup draw this year was an absolute pig, would much rather have seen us and Thame go on long lucrative runs but it wasn’t to be. It might serve as a bit of an eye opener for everyone and be seen as a blessing in the long run now we have seen the standard of one of the clubs expected to be around us in the table at first hand.
This season was also going to be a tough one. The failure of the FA to regulate bankrolled clubs and the increase in the number of relegation spots will work against the clubs that live hand to mouth. What will be will be but all us supporters will still be here next year spending our money home and away to keep the dream alive.

I said at the end of season. The club needed to make the right decision about appointing a permanent manager. We made Thame look good yesterday.

As someone pointed out, Thame had more minutes together as a team from the end of last season to the start of this. How many ex ducks on the pitch today? Just count them. Regarding Mark Riddick he was a recruit of Ben Williams and he knew his value to a team. Did anyone what the Ben Williams interview after the game. I did and he thought Thame were surprised to be 2 up at half time. and bossed the second half. Was this a fair summery? I was not at the game I have confidence that the management and players will learn and improve. One match does not make a season.

He was completely right and it could have been 0-0/1-1 at half time, which completely changes the game we had a stonewall penalty not given and stallard unlucky with a great strike, you can see we have a good team, I think it’s ridiculous what is being said on here, after ONE GAME! Quite clearly we haven’t been good enough the last 2 years so we have had to change our whole team, start to judge after 10 games & again back the players and management I just hope none of the younger boys in the squad read this forum because you’d wouldn’t think its supporters with what is being said on here.

Oh wait he doesn't feel like that is nessasery! I’m totally baffled by comments like this, might be a split opinion, but how many teams actually do post match interviews & how in anyway at step 4 is it relevant? What do you want to hear? When JW done it, was borderline embarrassing, publicly digging his players out Welwyn lost to step 5 yesterday no interview Flackwell lost to step 5 dynamos no interview Real Bedford lost to step 5 no interview Risborough with all there money lost yesterday no interview Do you think there fans are disappointed? Of course, but do you see them giving their players stick and getting at the management? No you don’t, I love this club, but we do need to stay in our lane a little bit, we won’t get anywhere with all this criticism especially after one game, I also think we need to realistic, with our budget and no ground, staying in this league until we get the ground back is the priority and I’m sure that is the target

One match does not make a season. bit frightening that Ben thought they were only at 50-60% ; in addition to the 2 goals they hit the post and bar, plus Hoppy had to make a couple of decent saves. We in contrast didn't have 1 shot on goal. True to say that it was pretty even until the first goal, which came from us trying to do some fancy short corner routine which led to a breakaway and them scoring 15 seconds later. Kwai had done well in the first 20, but the balls in weren't great, and every time there was only Kamil in the box, surrounded by multiple defenders. I don't know how many goals we can expect to score if Kamil is on his own and young Hashi is marooned out wide left, being doubled up on & bullied by defenders. The passing from both teams was pretty woeful in the first half, but once they got the goal they got better and we just got worse. As i said we are going to need some sort of attacking back up; we don't have an option if Kamil isn't there

Huge disappointment to lose yesterday but didn't expect anything from the game in honesty . Think Thame will have a good season based on their performance yesterday solid in all the right areas with a mixture of youth and experience....good luck to Ben . What was alarming was the atmosphere or rather the lack of it , when Thame scored it was so quite (that's normal) as for the vast majority of the crowd who were Ducks fans we were lifeless too (which is not normal) . My personal view is that until the Chairman/MD provide an honest and tangible update to the fans on returning home we will remain in limbo . Appreciate such a statement might jeopardise future sponsorship and I'm well aware of the work that must go on behind the scenes but the truth of the matter is we need transparency to the fans on developments . Final comment , ffs it's the first game of the season give DT a chance .
