just back from a few celebratory scoops. Who would have believed this? Top of the league in September. I must be cursed, coz all I have seen is poor performances! Today was no different, thank goodness N.Leigh were as bad as we were. Apart from the last 20 odd minutes of the first half we never got going; N. Leigh were by far the better team n our car load unanimously voted Hoppy our MOTM which says a lot. Their number 10 (as he was last year) was superb , ripped Tuttle a new one. Only 21 apparently, was a constant danger. Thank goodness we had Hashi who hit the bar with 1 and scared them shitless when he had the ball (not often enough in the 2nd half) before scoring a fine far post header to equalise. The midfield went missing, lost too many 2nd balls n didn't create enough. The defence found itself under pressure n Woody, Jake n the normally calm Liam were under pressure , shanking clearance n making desperate challenges. Offensively we seemed to over complicate things , when simple balls would have sufficed. Thought Kamil did a pretty good job up top, on his own, with some good hold up play, but there wasn't any fluidity to our play. BUT - they battled through and gained a point, even with playing the last 10 with 10 men. And we are 12-13 points clear of the drop
I really hope this doesn't sound too negative as I really appreciate the budget/circumstances and I am massively grateful to the effort that is being put in, plus the over achievement, but today wasn't a good day at the office
PS Don't think North Leigh will be relegation bound if they continue with performances like today. fair play to them

Have to agree with you hth a point gained rather than 2 lost imo . Don't know whether the Flackwell game on Tuesday took more out of us than hoped but we looked second best particularly in midfield where so many challenges were lost and passes went astray . To play not so good and still pick up a point says an awful lot about DTs team . First league game I've attended this season and must say the atmosphere amongst the players is great just don't get in the way of Hoppy (my motm too) as he'll rip your head off (which I'm not going to lie I like) .

We would have lost that last season as well. Not too unhappy tonight. On to next one!

I think Tuesday definitely took it out of them. Jake, Hoppy and Woody played pretty well. Hashii showed moments of brilliance, and during the few times we put pressure on them, NL appeared vulnerable. On another day we beat them comfortably but we’ll take the point!

Completely agree, didn't get to watch all the game today but from what I did see it looked like a tired performance. NL weren't anywhere near as strong as FH but we just didn't have the energy today. Pleased we managed to grind out the point.

I’ve watched four out if the five games we’ve played this season and, to be honest, we’ve not been the best team in any of them. But…. We have 13 out of fifteen points and are top of the league. Considering we probably have the lowest budget in our league that’s miraculous. Well done to the players and management. If we average just one point per game for the rest of the season we’ll be mid table which with our resources would be a remarkable achievement

Just got to Cornwall after watching that game & can agree with some points but not all! Firstly just wanted to say a massive well done to hoppy Liam Charley woody & bewley, who have been solid all season, shame the run of clean sheets have gone but remarkable none the less. I know it’s a team game but these 5 have to take some credit as they have been nothing short of superb. Back to the game, harsh to say Charley was “ripped” the 10 got a nice little nutmeg on him but he didn’t play wide, you could hear Tuttle shouting from the side for the midfield to man mark, the 10 played inside and stallard couldn’t live with him! (Stallard has been superb this season btw) Think the midfield was our weak point today, I think north Leigh beat us in that department today I think the experienced lad on there for them was very good. Apart from that, we looked a tired side who had a superb game on Tuesday, of course it was going to take it out of them, but a point is a point and were still unbeaten & top of the table. I also thought the ref was man of the match, sorry hoppy, but all jokes aside how bad was he? North Leigh had a extra player for them, & the red card I won’t even go there, the winger kicks Charley, falls on top of him, and Charley pushes him off, & he gets a red card, I really hope the club appeal it because quite frankly it’s embarrassing, the ref even said he didn’t see it, and neither did the linesman so unbelievable. Hats of to Tuttle who has recruited well and made us hard to beat, are we going to win the league? Probably not, but I’m enjoying want I’m seeing at the minute, and that’s all down to the manager & his players

Probably a sense of frustration because we would probably have expected to win this one given the two sides positions and especially North Leigh's decline from last season.
Not sure whether a degree of complacency or tiredness but actually though NL were pretty decent and certainly had the better control of the match, especially in midfield.
Have been to most of our early games and over-riding conclusions are that we have an excellent spirit, work ethic and togetherness but in terms of how we play, we don't necessarily control matches so are dependent on our solid defence, counter attacking and flashes of brilliance.
But hey, top of the league, 1 goal conceded, we're in a good place on the pitch and definitely a positive feel off it too. Looking forward to Wroxham and hopefully a little run (for once!) in the Trophy.

Agree with the compliments being given to our defence for their performances so far this season. Assuming Charley’s suspension goes ahead I don’t think moving Jake to left back and bringing Kian Henry in at centre half will do us any harm at all. Kian had a good pre-season so deserves a run of games.
I’m also inclined to agree with the point that we haven’t maybe been the best team (performance wise) for the entire 90 minutes in the games we’ve played so far this season. That having been said we’re all old enough and wise enough to realise we’re not going to be promotion contenders and the pleasing thing is that we’re taking points from the games that we should be capable of taking points from which will make the games against the stronger teams in the league much less stressful as we’ll have points in the bank so to speak. We can’t rely on being unbeaten against the top 5 in the division to stay up like we did last season.
I think a target of 4 points from our two league games in September is not unrealistic plus hopefully some progress in the trophy.
